Renegade: Unique Selling Point

The USP of my magazine, Renegade, is that it delivers weekly metal and classic metal-specific news and interviews, rather than monthly. The only weekly rock-centric magazine I am aware of is Kerrang! which tends only to cater for the more popular tastes on the rock music scene – the current trend seems to be bands such as Paramore, My Chemical Romance and 30 Seconds to Mars, and Kerrang! follows this trend. I think that there is a market for a weekly metal magazine, as Metal Hammer is only published monthly, and so, some of the news in particular may end up being outdated by the time it is on stands. I also feel as though those interested in this genre of music could benefit from a magazine that is much more specific.

Campus Circle

I like the look of this issue, as I was initially drawn in by the promotional material for Jennifer's Body anyway, due to the composure of the photograph; the combination of the red top and black tartan skirt compliments the image of the blackboard. I also think the compsition of the cover itself is balanced nicely - while the 'Hell Yes' written on the blackboard is in the top right corner of the image, the name of the actress [Megan Fox], and the film is placed in the bottom left corner, in red, which I think balances out the image. The Masthead and contents of the magazine are then written in yellow and white - I am not so sure about this colouring, however, having both of them in yellow as opposed to only the Masthead also balances itself out.
